This was the first new tank design for the U.S. Army after WW II. But it was an experimental concept and called an interim vehicle as the Army designed what would eventually be the M48 and M60 tanks. The M47 Patton never served in a U.S. Forces\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 armed conflict (Korea, Viet Nam) but has served in numerous Allied countries armed forces during armed conflict.
