While the outer body was different the chassis’ were all very similar. The tubular frame was simplistic and held a monster of a motor, the 427 was a Ford favorite. These cars put out tons of horsepower sending the Funny Car to a blazing 250 MPH, 7 second Quarter Mile! All the cars ran a Fiberglass body designed after a Stock style street car. The muscle cars of the day were some of the most popular styles with many of the drivers. In my research I did find a multitude of the GT Fastback Ford Mustang Funny Cars. While this particular graphic design is generic it is representative of what you would find at the local drag strip every weekend.

For the modeler: This review covers the Round2 Re-Release (Re-Pop) of the AMT ’65 Mustang GT Funny Car. This is Kit #AMT888 in their catalog and is a Retro Deluxe Edition run of the kit. This kit can be found for sale in hobby shops and online. This kit has seen multiple Box Arts over the years and has been around well for many years. It seems the molds have been cleaned up and repaired as there is little Flash on this kit compared to previous versions, and the moldings are very crisp too. This is a Skill Level 2 for the Moderate Builder although no ratings are given on the box. The build consists of 90 parts molded in White, Chrome, Clear and Clear Blue and has Vinyl tires. There is a new high quality sheet of decals. You get a nicely detailed motor with the ability to add extra details. The tubular frame is simplistic. It has a tub style interior. The body is a single cast with minor mold lines. Front and rear stone pans and has a modified wheel base. The rear tires are Slicks and are factory printed. Overall dimensions are: Length: 7”, Width: 3”, Height: 2”.

Covered in this Review: If you want to perfect your build; basic construction; preparing parts for better finishing; alternate assembly sequence suggestions for fit and ease of finishing; abrasive choices; complete paint and adhesive selections and applications; test fitting; chassis/tub fit discussion; mold seam identification and repair; using white glue for the window glass; complete suspension construction; detailing the tires for realism; chassis construction and detailing; mounting the body to the chassis; removing copyright script; engine construction and detailing; building and complete interior detailing; version considerations; modifying the hood opening for a better fit; detailing the taillights; locating the connection points; detailing the dashboard; optional parts considerations; detailing the dash with optional decals; using homemade wired distributor; correct wiring instruction guide; highlighting the trim with foil; header/frame interference fit discussion; black washing the grill for authenticity; combining instruction steps for better finishing; chute mounting; installing the roll cage; using floor wax to make crystal clear window glass; decal preparation and application; using decal setting solutions for that “painted on” look; are all fully examined in this 15 page, full-color Step-by-Step review in PDF format.

100% money back guarantee!

Click the Buy Now link below to purchase the full Step-by-Step review for $2.95 USD.

Important – You MUST click on the “Return to Right on Replicas, LLC” link after you’ve made your purchase to download your review!

Right On Replicas, LLC ©2015 All rights reserved. *All registered trademarks are the property of their respective brands.
