Used heavily by the German army as a Anti-Aircraft gun and also changed from an AA weapon to a tank destroyer by Rommel in May 1940. He changed how most saw the 8.8 still used as a AA weapon. In Rommel’s hands during 1940 and most notably at Halfaya Pass in Northern Africa, in a few minutes, a single Wermacht Flak 88 battery destroyed 11 of the 12 English tanks sent against the German\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s positions. The pass became well known in-between the English tankmen as “Hellfire Pass”. \u00c2\u00a0Italians also used this gun and accordingly, it is done in the box art of the 22nd flak Bde., Stab 135th rgt., Bologna, Italy, Feb 1945<\/p>\n

For the Modeler:<\/strong> \u00c2\u00a0This review covers the 2011 release of the 8.8cm Flak 27 AA gun by Italeri under the Special Scale Edition (new tools). This kit is for ages 14 and up a Skill Level 4 kit and is in 1:48 scale.\u00c2\u00a0 Kit includes 100 pieces molded in light gray styrene on three parts trees. \u00c2\u00a0There are a lot of nice details here, but nothing that a modeler with some building experience couldn’t handle. The kit provides a nice \"Box<\/a> cruciform gun carriage that can be built in the firing position or in its travel configuration and the gun can be moved in azimuth and elevation. The gun shield has a viewport armor plate that can be positioned open for firing or closed for travel. It also comes with two wheeled carriages that are attached to the cruciform carriage so the gun can be towed around the battlefield.\u00c2\u00a0 There are waterslide decals and paper signal flags.\u00c2\u00a0 Overall Dimensions are: Total Length: 14-3\/4\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, Width: 1.5\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, Height: 5\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n
