Green Hornet Ford T Roadster 1:25 Scale Monogram Model Kit #0061 (PC-61) Review

Review and Photos by Alan Mann
Monogram’s Green Hornet kit is considered to be among the earliest all-plastic model kits mass-produced for public consumption. Originally issued in 1960 under the kit number of PC-61, it was later re-issued in 1996 with the number 85-0061. The original box art (and kit number) remained the same, however there were a few discrepancies between the box art description and instruction sheet.
Â
For the Modeler: This review covers the 1996 release of the MONOGRAM Re-release (Re-Pop) of the Green Hornet Model T Show Car. This is Kit number 85-0061 and also PC61. It has long been out of production but can be found in the secondary market. This was well
before the Skill Level ratings and I would rate this as a Skill Level 4 for a moderate builder. The build itself is quite simplistic and only has 76 parts molded in Green, Chrome, Black and Clear. There is a Waterslide decal sheet and Stickers for Whitewall tires. The instructions are quite unique in the fact it is a written step by step build process with actual photos of the model NOT artwork. The motor is missing most of the details to make it correct, it is a basic block with a huge intake. The frame consists of straight rails that have a simple suspension attached to it. The interior is merely a seat. The body has multiple parts and a choice of decal designs. The tires are two part plastic. Overall this is a “Show Rod†build with low realism and detail. Overall dimensions are: Length: 6â€, Width: 3â€, Height: 2-1/2â€.

1983 Hurst Oldsmobile 1:25 Scale Revell Model Kit #85-4317 Review

Review and Photos by Alan Mann for Right On Replicas
The Cutlass was a line of automobiles made by Oldsmobile. The Cutlass began as a unibody compact car, but saw its greatest success as a body-on-frame intermediate car. Introduced in 1961 as the top trim level in Olds’ compact F-85 line, over the years the Cutlass name accumulated great brand equity, and became one of the most popular nameplates in the industry in the 1970s. By the 1980s, Oldsmobile was using the Cutlass as a sub-marque, with numerous vehicle lines bearing the name simultaneously. These included the Cutlass Calais compact, the midsize Cutlass Ciera, the Cutlass Cruiser station wagon, and the premium midsize Cutlass Supreme. After the Cutlass line was split between the front-wheel drive A-body Cutlass Ciera and the rear-wheel drive G-body Cutlass Supreme in 1982, GM again offered a limited-edition Hurst/Olds – it was the 15th anniversary of the first Hurst/Olds introduced in 1968. The Hurst Lightning Rod floor shifter was introduced in the ’83 H/O. For its 15th Anniversary Edition, the ’83 H/O came only in black with silver rocker panels. Chrome 15″ wheels fitted Goodyear GT tires, and a power bulge hood and rear spoiler gave the car a purposeful look. A modified version of Oldsmobile’s 307 CID V8 was installed, along with 3.73 gears and Hurst’s radical Lightning Rods shifter. Dual exhausts with rumbling mufflers meant there was no mistaking the H/O for a garden variety Cutlass. A new style “Hurst/Olds” emblem was introduced, and red and silver stripes separated the black and silver paint. Demand for the car was very strong. Originally, 2500 units were scheduled to be produced, but Olds had to up that number to 3001 because of high demand.

For the Modeler: This review covers the ALL NEW release of the ’83 Hurst Olds by Revell molded in 1/25 scale. The kit is all new tooling and has no previous releases. Revell rates this as a Skill Level 4 and it requires glue and paint for assembly. This is not
a high parts count kit with only 94 parts but it is very well detailed. It is molded in White, Chrome, Clear, Clear Red, Vinyl tires and has Metal axle pins. The decals are waterslide and it contains a Book style instruction sheet. The motor is nicely detailed and aftermarket wires and details will add to a contest winner quite easily. The chassis is multiple parts but simple to assemble, the overall detail is good. The interior is well detailed and multiple parts for ease of detailing. Some aftermarket goodies will go a long way to winning a contest here! The body is straight and clean with glass that installs from the outside. Overall assembly is easy and straightforward most of the body is assembled prior to painting. The decals are full with all body stripes, interior dash gauges and body details. Overall dimensions are: Length: 7-13/16″, Width: 3″, Height: 2-3/16″.

1991 Ford F-350 Duallie Pickup 1:24 Scale Revell Model Kit #85-4376 Review

Review and Photos by Alan Mann
The F-Series of light-duty trucks and medium-duty trucks (Class 2-7) have been marketed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company since 1948. While most variants of the F-Series trucks are full-size pickup trucks, the F-Series also includes chassis cab trucks and commercial vehicles. The most popular version of the F-Series is the Ford F-150, produced in thirteen different generations. It has been the best-selling vehicle in the United States since 1981 and the best-selling pickup since 1977. The eighth generation of the Ford F-Series is a line of pickup trucks and commercial trucks that were produced by Ford from 1987 to 1991. Built on the same platform as the Seventh generation F-series trucks, the eighth generation had softer styling lines and expanded engine options. Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) was introduced and the Custom name tag returned and the Heavy-duty models were the F-250 & F-350.

For the Modeler: This review covers the Re-release (Re-Pop) of the Revell 1:24 scale kit 1991 F-350 Ford Duallie Pickup. This kit has been released as both an F-250 with four wheels and the F-350 with Dual rear wheels. This is one of Revell’s more popular releases as it is used to produce Tow Trucks and Flat Bed Wreckers with aftermarket and scratch-built beds. Revell has listed this as a Skill Level 5 for advanced builders. The kit consists of 136 parts molded in White, Chrome, Clear, Clear Red and it has Vinyl tires. This release has an all new Waterslide decal sheet to replicate a Crane Service but still includes the rear window decal previous versions had. The instructions are the typical Revell book format. Build-up starts with a well detailed motor. A little aftermarket wiring and it would look great. The chassis incorporates a simplified two-wheel drive suspension but builds to a nice looking chassis. The spare tire is soft vinyl, not plastic. The interior is sparse but separate door panels allow easy detailing and you do get dash decals. Some simple details will make the interior contest ready quite easily. The body is straight and simple with a one piece cab and multiple piece bed. Building the bed is recommended prior to painting for a proper color match. Overall dimensions are: Length: 9¾”, Width: 4¼”, Height: 2-15/16″.
