In the final year of the Fox-bodied Ford Mustang, the SVT Cobra was a special edition designed by Ford’s Special Vehicle Team.  The Fox body had been in production since 1979.  This was the hottest version ever made with 240 horsepower at 5,000 rpm.  It could generate quarter mile times in the low 14 seconds.  With only 5,000 cars produced, it has turned into a collector’s car.  The SVT Cobra has the popular Ford 5.0 liter engine with special tuned parts such as GT-40 cylinder heads, roller rocker arms, large valves and high end flow intake manifold.  The suspension was upgraded also with the recalibrated shocks and springs, rear disc brakes, and 17” aluminum wheels.

For the Modeler: This is a skill level 2 kit with 81 pieces molded in white and clear plastic with a chrome tree, soft tires, and factory marking decals. This kit features a separate instrument pod and driving lights.  This kit is very clean, has very little flashing on the trees, and individual parts fit together quite well.  It requires a little bit of model assembly knowledge because it needs tools to clean the parts.  Glue is also required for assembly.  The parts are unpainted.  If you would like a colorful model, you will need to paint all of the un-chromed pieces.  The instruction sheet does a good job suggesting colors for painting, or you can go on your own as I have done on this build.
