In 1968, Ronnie Sox and Buddy Martin won the Winter Nationals and Spring Nationals.  The Plymouth GTX was one of the cars they used to “win on Sunday, sell on Monday”.  They held drag racing clinic programs and visited local dealerships around the country.  With a 426 CID Hemi with two 4-barrel carbs, this GTX was a favorite on the strip in the Super Stock class. Today, in memory of drag racing legends, you can get a glimpse of these Sox and Martin cars at historical drag races and in museums.

For the Modeler: This is a Revell Motor Sports Series Sox & Martin ‘67 Plymouth GTX model kit #85-4916. A skill level 2 model it was re-released in 2012.  Kit includes 103 pieces molded in white, clear, transparent red and chrome.  It features a nicely printed, realistic water slide decal sheet.  two unbranded drag slicks and two unbranded front runners. It has a very detailed 426 CID Hemi with two quad carburetors, separate hood scoop, and Keystone styled wheels. Finished dimensions are; Length: 8″, Width: 3″, Height: 2-1/8″. Have fun and “keep the glue off the windshield!” – Tony Gibson
