The Panzer tank was used throughout World War II and had several modifications during that time frame. The armor was not very thick so armor plates were developed to help in that field. The Panzer had a 76mm cannon and two 7.9mm machine guns. The Panzer IV essentially replaced the Panzer III during World War II and was used as the work horse of the German Military.

For the Modeler: This review covers the Panzer IV Tank 1:32 scale, Skill Level 2, Monogram model #85-7861 kit. This is a reissue of the 1970’s Panzer IV Tank. In the 70’s, Monogram released their military kits in 1:32 scale whereas most other model kit manufacturers were molding their military line in 1:35. Even though this causes it to be difficult to add these sweet kits to military dioramas they can be incorporated into everyday dioramas since most snap together kits were molded in 1:32 scale. For the modeler: The pieces are molded in olive drab, black vinyl tracks and water slide decals. There are 197 pieces to this kit and very well laid out instructions. The dimensions are; 8 5/8 L X 4 7/8 W X 4 H with the commander in the tank and 8-5/8” L X 4-7/8” w X 3¼” H without the commander in the tank.

Covered in this Review:  If you want to perfect your build; basic construction; preparing parts for better finishing; alternate assembly sequence suggestions for fit and ease of finishing; complete paint and adhesive selections and applications; test fitting; removing unwanted copyright script; complete road wheel and suspension construction; construction and finishing sequence deviations for fit and finish; easy grab handle installation tips; a camouflage paint scheme; how to connect the track pieces together; sectioning for “damaged” armor options; turret and hull assembly; weathered decal considerations; version considerations are discussed; and weathering techniques are all fully examined in this 15 page, full-color Step-by-Step review in PDF format.
