In the 40’s and 50’s, small British imports were very unpopular with the American car buyers. It wasn’t long before the used car market turned these cars into cheap and easily affordable models making them perfect for Drag Racers to convert them into lightweight drag racing cars. Since these cars only had a 90-inch wheel base they could not have large engines however small block V-8’s could be used. A new Gasser racing class was born and over 2,400 Anglia Coupes were being raced in the 70’s.

For the modeler: This review covers the 1951 Anglia Drag Coupe 1:25 Scale Revell Model Kit #85-1269. It is rated a Skill Level 5 for the advanced builder. There are 119 pieces molded in white, chrome, clear styrene sheet, black vinyl tires with water-slide decals and very well laid out instructions. 000b During my research I found five other releases of this kit, two of those releases were under the Skippers Critter logo (1970 H1281 original and 2010 kit number 2035) then released as a Lightning Rod 7106 (1985), Skips Fiesta Series 7150 (1989) and Anglia Street Rod 4169 (1999). The finished dimensions are; L-6¾”, X W-2¾”, X H-2¾”.
