The Corvette, known colloquially as the Vette, is a sports car manufactured by Chevrolet. The car has been produced through seven generations. The first model, a convertible, was introduced at the GM Motorama in 1953 as a concept show car. Myron Scott is credited for naming the car after the type of small, maneuverable warship called a CORVETTE. The fourth generation Corvette was the first complete redesign of the Corvette since 1963. Production was to begin for the 1983 model year but quality issues and part delays resulted in only 43 prototypes for the 1983 model year being produced that were never sold. Regular fourth generation production began on January 3, 1983; the 1984 model year and delivery to customers began in March 1983. A Corvette has been selected as the pace car at the Indianapolis 500, 13 times. In 1998, the fourth time, Driven by 1963 race winner Parnelli Jones when an injury prevented golfer Greg Norman from performing the duty. 1,158 production replicas were produced.

For the Modeler: This review covers the Revell 1:25 scale 1998 Corvette Indianapolis 500 Pace Car release. This is a Re-release (Re-Pop) dated from 2004 and has been released in multiple car versions. This kit is number 85-2857 and is found in the secondary market. Revell placed this version as a Skill Level 2 in 2004 for the moderate builder. The build consists of over 125 parts molded in White, Chrome, Clear and Clear Red with Vinyl tires. The decals are Waterslide and give you dash details and stripes for the body plus the Indy specific details. The instructions are typical Revell book format. The buildup is quite simple with a nice motor that can use with some aftermarket touchups. The chassis is multiple parts and looks good when finished. The interior is a tub style and detailing is difficult with multiple colors. The body is one part and is completed prior to installing. Overall the dimensions are: Scale: 1/25, Length: 7″, Width: 3″, Height: 2″.

USA-1 is a monster truck that competed during the 1980s and 1990s. It was named after a Chevrolet ad campaign. In 1983 it competed against Bigfoot in the first televised monster truck race on the television show “That’s Incredible!”. Everett Jasmer built and raced the truck in the late 1970s. The truck was initially painted blue before it was repainted in white. USA-1 was a consistent winner in the mid-to-late 1980s with Steve Wilke and Rod Litzau sharing the driving, and is best known for its many wins and legendary crashes. It won the 1988 TNT Monster Truck Racing Series championship. It was one of the last nationally competitive monster trucks to use a leaf spring suspension. Everett contacted Mark Hall, co-owner of Raminator, to campaign a USA-1 body in 1992 on their Executioner chassis. In the next year, Everett had Kirk Dabney campaign the body on his Nitemare 4 chassis. USA-1 stopped racing in the early 1990s, after the folding of the TNT Monster Truck Racing Series. As of March 2008, Everett owns the original vehicles and the trademark to the name. He has been trying to find a racing series that meets his vision of professional monster truck racing. In November 2011, Everett Jasmer was inducted into the Monster Truck Hall of Fame.

For the Modeler: This review covers the Round2 release of the USA-1 Chevy Monster Truck under the AMT brand. This is Kit #AMT632 which is 1/25 scale and a Skill Level 2 for the moderate builder as it requires paint and glue for assembly. This kit is a Re-release (Re-Pop) of the USA-1 Monster truck but with all new box art and graphics. There are roughly 100 parts molded in White, Chrome, Clear and Clear Red and included Vinyl tires. This is a full frame traditional style truck, not the roll cage super-truck that is now used in the Monster Truck competitions. The kit has a fully detailed motor that is quite easy to wire and add additional details to. There is a full chassis with the monster style suspension and drivetrain. The interior is a typical tub and looks more like a stock interior than race truck. The body is split with the cab and bed being separate units. The tires are a hollow soft rubber compound and are typical of the monster truck tires seen in the majority of kits. The decals have a crisp color register and look good with rich color depth. Overall dimensions are: Length: 9”, Width: 5”, Height: 5-3/4”.

The F-15E Strike Eagle is a twin-engine, all weather fighter considered the backbone of the US Air Force.
