For the Modeler: This review covers Dominic’s F&F 1970 Dodge Charger 1:25 Scale Revell Model Kit #85-4319.  The kit is an ALL NEW release and Revell has quenched our thirst for a more accurate replica!. This is a Skill Level 5 kit, recommended for age 14 and over and requires about 7 hours build time. The kit contains 122 parts molded in White, Chrome, Clear and Clear Red and has Vinyl tires and metal pins. The decals are Waterslide and the instructions are typical book format Revell has become known for. The motor is very detailed and depicts a nice Hemi engine.  Little is needed for extra details to make it shine. The chassis is very detailed also and allows for stock ride height for those who wish to convert it. The interior is STOCK and while not quite accurate to the movie car; it is highly detailed. The body is crisp and clean with no mold lines or blemishes. Overall dimensions are: Length: 8-1/4″, Width: 3″, Height: 2-1/4″.

1948 Ford Police Coupe 1:25 Scale Revell Model Kit #85-4318 Review

For the Modeler: This review covers the Re-release of the 1948 Ford Police Coupe 1:25 Scale Revell Model Kit #85-4318. This version is a 2-n-1 and includes both Stock and Police parts. The kit is a Re-pop from the 2012 tooling and adds only the new police parts. On Revell’s Skill Level scale this is now a Skill Level 5 for ages 14 and up and requires an average of 7 hours construction time. You will get 136 parts molded in White, Chrome, Clear and Clear Red. There are Vinyl White Wall tires and a waterslide decal sheet with multiple police agencies depicted. The instructions are typical book format. The motor is well detailed and builds into a nice flathead engine. The chassis is multiple parts with lots of detail. The interior also is multiple parts and has nice crisp details with decals for the dash. The body is straight and clean with few issues. Overall dimensions are: Length: 7-7/8″, Width: 2-7/8″, Height: 2-3/4″.

The Lockheed Vega was a commuter plane that made its debut in the 20’s to provide corporations with a fast and durable airframe for executives.  As it turned out its range and flight characteristics also made it attractive to pilots trying to set long distance endurance records like Amelia Earhart and Wiley Post.  It was those pioneers that cemented the legend of the venerable Vega.  The plane did have one shortcoming – lack of forward visibility on landing which made tricycle gear planes more attractive when airports became more numerous.

For the Modeler:  This is a re-released Shell Lockheed Vega AMT 1:48 Scale Kit #AMT950 Review. Round2 has rated this as a Skill Level 2 kit for ages 10 and above but I would recommend it to more experienced modelers.  In the box you get 41 parts molded in yellow and clear plastic with Cartograph water slide decals. There are two extra pieces in the kit which aren’t used and a simple line drawing foldout instruction sheet.  This is a simple build with a one piece motor and no interior to speak of.  The challenge here lies in the finishing.  The decals are made well but they are thicker than usual which helps small hands install them, but it they don’t conform well to surface features. Overall dimensions are approximately: Width: 10¼”, Length: 6¾”, Height: 2-1/2″.
