The Ford Model T was produced by Ford Motor Company from October 1908, to May 1927. It is generally regarded as the first affordable automobile, the car that opened travel to the common middle-class American; some of this was because of Ford’s efficient fabrication, including assembly line production instead of individual hand crafting. The Model T was named the world’s most influential car of the 20th century in an international poll. Its production numbers surpassed any other vehicle and these classics made it onto roads all over the nation. Eventually, many made their way into the shops of hot-rod enthusiasts and became rolling works of art. The Model T was available throughout its production in over fourteen different body styles.

For the Modeler: This review covers the Monogram Black widow kit 85-4324 in 1/24 scale. This is a direct Re-release (Re-Pop) and is the exact same kit that you would get from the original 1960 release and the 2010 release. Revell has rated this as a Skill Level 2 for moderate builders. That is the entry level Skill for a Glue Kit. The copyright on the parts in this kit are 2010. There are 55 parts molded it Black, White, Chrome and Clear with Vinyl tires. In the original 1960 kit there was a motorized or non-motorized version, and as such this body has the moldings inside for the motor. The engine is overly basic with not much detail at all. There is no rear suspension but a decent front suspension. The interior is typical of the Hot Rods of the 50’s. The tires are actually very well detailed and look great.  The decals give you five different versions you can build or you can mix and match for your own design. Overall dimensions are: Length: 5-7/8″, Width: 2-3/4″, Height: 2-1/2″.

Midget racing was a racing series with the biggest fan base in the Midwest back in the day. Fairgrounds, stadiums and small tracks brought the race fans close to the excitement of high speed and dirt throwing thrills and spills.

For the Modeler: This is a skill level 3, 1:25 scale Revell Motorsports Series Kurtis Midget Racer kit #85-4267. It includes 112 pieces molded in white, chrome and clear. There’s a nice decal sheet with nostalgic designs and 2 options for numbers. The chrome pieces are nice, clean and bright with many very fine, realistic pieces. The tires included are very realistic. The direction sheet is laid out nicely and it’s easy to follow. The kit also comes with a photo etched instrument panel and steering wheel for the advanced builder. As a bonus this kit comes with a really neat race car trailer. Keep the glue off the windshield – Tony Gibson

1980 was a big year for Ford® trucks.  A huge remodel of their truck line took place. Ford® stepped into the “modern” era with the sleek new look, and it started a streak of the best selling truck line for the next 30 years. Monogram® introduced the Bronco® model not long after the real one was introduced. Over the years I have bought almost every release of this model. What is different is that it is now molded in white.

For the modeler – this is a customizers dream. Tom will show you where there are some things to avoid and fix with the stock parts in this model and take you to a higher level with a scratch built 8” lift kit, off road bumpers, and stock part replacements. Enhancements are plentiful too, through the judicious use of the spare parts box.
